The Himalayan Foothills Challenge - 30th March to 2nd April 2019

This challenge will see me trekking with a dozen others in the Himalayan foothills, to support The Atlas Foundation’s projects in India. These help the poorest kids in city slums and those living in subsistence conditions in the northern jungle.

These children may remind you of Mowgli from the Jungle Book, but the reality of their existence is a grinding poverty which prevents growth, education and opportunity and I want to raise at least £10,000 to help them.

Our projects use rugby and education to offer these children a future. We have already increased education levels in some areas from 15%-80% and want to continue this work to help as many children as possible.

Before we set off to scale the foothills and witness sunrise over Everest, we will be spending a day with the kids in their village. Like them, we will go to catch fish in the river and if we come home empty handed, we won't eat. In the evening we will open a new education centre, funded by Atlas, where kids will benefit from educational and welfare support from our rugby field staff.
